Assam: At least four people, including two children, were killed after a boat capsized in the Brahmaputra river in Assam’s Jorhat district, officials said on Wednesday. The bodies of all four persons have been recovered and sent for post-mortem, according to the district administration.The incident took place in Baghmara area, about 15 kilometres away from Jorhat, where four persons had gone missing after a boat capsized in the Brahmaputra on Tuesday evening. According to reports, about 10-12 picnic-goers boarded on a country boat that capsized in the Brahmaputra river. The boatman and other persons saved themselves, but four persons went missing.Following this incident, local police, administration and SDRF teams rushed to the spot and launched a search operation. On Wednesday, the rescue teams recovered bodies of all the missing persons. The deceased persons have been identified as Razia Tikala, Sahil Chauhan, Sophia Chauhan and Pawan Rai. Meanwhile, the Jorhat district administration has ordered a probe into the incident.
