In yet another crackdown, the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) arrested a 19-year-old college student who was in possession of drugs. The arrest was made in the Bandra area of the city. The national agency seized drugs and Rs 2.3 lakh in cash. The NCB said that the student used to supply drugs to many Bollywood celebrities among others. The court has sent him to four-day NCB custody. On Tuesday night, BJP leader and MLA Ashish Shelar said that he is concerned about the latest drug seizure and arrest from Khar by the central agency.
A major fire erupted in a logistics godown in a village near Thane district’s Bhiwandi city in the wee hours of Wednesday. “Shocked to see teenagers involved in the drug trade and even attacking NCB officers,” Shelar added. He also said that Mumbai police must act on his letter and crackdown on drug hotspots in Bandra, Khar and Santacruz areas. “Drug Mafia must be destroyed,” he said.
